On the Job Training (OJT) is designed primarily to offset business cost associated with new employee training and enhance the opportunity for full productivity for new employees. It is intended to provide low salaried incumbent workers with the means to achieve self-sufficient wages and provide opportunities for jobseekers who might not otherwise secure meaningful employment.
On the Job Training is not well suited for training large numbers of workers.
That volume of training is more appropriate for the Skills Development (grant
funds) training program.
